Roberto Felix Salazar (b. 1913) was a Mexican-American writer from Laredo, Texas. Salazar was one of the earliest Chicano authors to write in English. He wrote both poetry and short stories, but is best known for his poem “The Other Pioneers”, which was first published in 1939. It has been anthologized many times, among them a 1973 collection of Mexican-American literature titled We Are Chicanos.
